a. Introduction –
i. 5 minutes – I will begin my lesson by showing the students an educational YouTube video that teaches denominator and numerator in fractions.
ii. 10 minutes – I will then review the fractions with the students by writing fractions on the smartboard and ask them to draw the fraction. I will also draw a picture and ask them what fraction is shaded. By the end of the lesson the students will have the knowledge parts of a set and be able to place the numerator and denominator in the correct location of a fraction.
b. Instructional process – 10 minutes – I will hand out the worksheet to each student for them to complete. Students will need to shade the fraction shown on the worksheet. I will give each student a pie with different pieces so that they can use to help them to do the worksheet. I will walk around the classroom to monitor and help struggling students.
c. Closure – 5 minutes – I will close the lesson by giving each student an opportunity to review and reflect on his or her learning.
E. Assessment –
1. 5 minutes – I will have a Kahoot! Game created. I will have all students login with the pin on their individual iPads. We will then play the game. will display the main screen on the Smartboard.
2. 5 minutes – I will then have the students play a space race game on Socrative.com. They will again each login on their individual iPads. I will display the main screen on the Smartboard.
