Why do we keep wanting to change the technology being used?
Why is there always a better way of learning?
Will technology in the classroom ever be “transparent” again?

Why is there insufficient exposure to new technologies in teacher preparation programs?
Why do teachers have moderate confidence with technology?
Why is it that technology is used so easily informally, but hard to put to use formally?
Teaching and Technology
Are we all jumping on the bandwagon regarding technology?
Do we really want technology taking over people’s jobs?
Is technology actually deskilling teachers?
Karina,
ReplyDeleteYou has some great questions. I also wondered the same about whether or not we wanted technology to take over peoples jobs. In my opinion I think that this is essential to our economy! We should not take away jobs.
Karina, your questions really put me to think so many things about the life we are living in. Technology will always be advancing, and so are we as humans we need to evolve too. I think though that it takes us longer to move on. Our comfort zone is too good to move on with the flow. Now as new technology is coming out, generations are changing their way of learning and as teachers we need to be up dated.
ReplyDeleteThese are some great questions! I feel like technology is deskilling a lot of people because that is all they want to use. I have noticed that pre-k students come to school and don't like to even color anymore because all they want is the technology. It is sad.
ReplyDeleteYour questions are some that so many of us are asking. I too wander when and if the time will come that an actual teacher in the classroom will become extinct? I realize technology had helped in so many situations, but when it comes to putting peoples lively hood at risk, we should look at drawing the line.Just because its easier dose not mean its the best thing to do. I also ad an eye opener with your question about why teachers are not properly prepared for all of the new technology? I think the in-serves teachers are required to go to should be utilized a bit better. I had sat threw many, and I think there could be some changes that would benefit everyone.
ReplyDeleteRegarding the teaching and technology, I do not believe that technology is deskilling a teacher, but I do believe it will be a very big "crutch." I remember in school there were the teacher who read everything out of the book, but did not know anything more than what the textbook was saying, I believe there will be those teachers that just let (for example Khan Academy) technology teach for them. Technology in the classroom is there to help with understanding and I think catch the students attention. Catch their attention in a fun, but educational way, more than pencil and paper may be able to. But there are always those people that use the technology to be lazy.
ReplyDeleteI really love the questions you ask for Net Generation, Karina! formally and informally and the preparation from the teacher education program!
